Berlin Fashion Week Concept Competition Winners

Ukrainian fashion brands BOBKOVA, DZHUS, LITKOVSKA and PODYH will present SS24 collections at Berlin Fashion Week on July 10-15. Four Ukrainian designers have become winners in the concept competition of the Fashion Council Germany.

Last September, the first show was held in partnership between Ukrainian Fashion Week and Berlin Fashion Week: the Ukrainian brand BOBKOVA presented the SS23 collection at BFW as part of the “Support Ukrainian Fashion” Initiative from UFW.

Fashion Council Germany is holding a concept competition for the second time, the winners of which receive grants to hold fashion shows and presentations during Berlin Fashion Week. The purpose of the competition is to further strengthen the potential and growth of the “Made & Designed in Berlin and Germany” fashion industry and continue solidarity with Ukrainian designers.

“The Berlin Fashion Week was realigned in a unique way in the last edition, now it will continue in July with great presentation formats. The “Berlin Contemporary” format offers us the unique opportunity to promote up-and-coming talent and also to support them financially for a presentation as part of Berlin Fashion Week. Both young and established designers are given the opportunity to present their creations to a national and international specialist audience,” says Scott Lipinski, CEO of the Fashion Council Germany.

The competition, funded by the Department of Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises of the Berlin Senate and implemented by the Fashion Council Germany, aims to present Berlin to the international public as a fashion centre and offer perfect design. Out of 77 applications, 18 concepts received grants, embodying original design ideas in collections and proving a distinctive brand identity in the proposed event concepts. Including fourteen German winners: Acceptance Letter Studio, Esther Perbandt, Fassbender, Haderlump Atelier Berlin, LML Studio, Milk of Lime, Namilia, ODEEH, Olivia Ballard, RIANNA + NINA, Richert Beil, Sia Arnika, SF1OG and William Fan. In addition to 14 German brands, four Ukrainian brands also received the award, which symbolizes Fashion Council Germany’s constant solidarity with Ukraine and Ukrainian Fashion Week.
