Ukrainian Fashion Week SS27: The 59th Season in Kyiv

Ukrainian Fashion Week SS27 has concluded in Kyiv, bringing together 50 Ukrainian fashion brands on the official schedule. Air-raid alerts repeatedly interrupted and delayed events throughout the season, yet every scheduled show and presentation went ahead.

VIKTORANISIMOV, DARJA DONEZZ and VOROZHBYT&ZEMSKOVA ultimately held their shows inside the bombshelter during prolonged air-raid alerts in Kyiv. The circumstances reflected the reality in which Ukraine’s fashion industry continues to operate. After an exhausting winter marked by attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure, which caused widespread disruptions to electricity and heating, the summer and early autumn brought an intensification of Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv.

“Behind every collection presented this season are designers and their teams who continue to create, produce in Ukraine and build their future here despite the extraordinary pressure of the war. This is why these collections resonate so deeply — the reality in which they are created is the one Ukrainians live and work in every day,” says Yelyzaveta Ushcheka, CEO of Ukrainian Fashion Week.

Fashion Business: From Resilience to Growth

The season opened at TSUM Kyiv with the Ukrainian Fashion Week × white rabbit agency business conference “New Rules of the Game. Strategies for Resilience and Real Sales 2026/27”. Air-raid alerts interrupted the conference five times, with guests and speakers moving to the shelter and returning after each alert was lifted to continue the conversation.

Ukraine’s fashion industry today is demonstrating more than its ability to keep working through the war. Brands are adapting their business models, developing new sales channels, strengthening their positions in the domestic market and expanding.

The Next Generation

Supporting the next generation of designers has always been a key focus of Ukrainian Fashion Week. This season, designers from the New Names platform presented their collections alongside established Ukrainian brands, joined by emerging brands DANIA STINOVA and LeCRI. Ukrainian brand KACHOROVSKA also presented its Emerging Brand Prize for the fourth time, awarding it this season to APSARA.

Symbolically, the final event of the season was the runway show of the 27th All-Ukrainian Young Fashion Designers Contest, Look into the Future. For more than a quarter of a century, the competition has introduced new names to the industry and helped emerging designers take their first professional steps. This year’s Grand Prix went to Oleksandra Sakhaudinova, awarded by the competition’s main partners Visa | PrivatBank.

New Formats and Dimensions

Ukrainian brands also pushed beyond conventional presentations this season. At the main UFW venue, RUSLAN BAGINSKIY created an immersive space dedicated to the brand’s Grain De Sel fragrance, further expanding the universe it has built beyond its core category.

The dialogue between fashion and art emerged as another defining thread. KACHOROVSKA collaborated with artist Olga Stein on the installation, while ARTICLE presented a joint art project with artist Ivan Grabko. Internationally renowned art studio BOB BASSET unveiled its first full collection MUTABOR since 2015, blurring the boundaries between fashion, art and object design.

The season also brought several notable debuts. Established Ukrainian brands BALYKINA and SYNDICATE took to the Ukrainian Fashion Week runway for the first time, their distinct aesthetics reflecting the breadth of contemporary Ukrainian fashion. BLACKWOOD marked its 10th anniversary with its debut, presenting the ANIMA accessories collection.

Several brands took their shows beyond the main venue to some of Kyiv’s landmark locations. The COAT by Katya Silchenko opened the season’s runway schedule at the National Opera of Ukraine, while J’AMEMME presented its collection in the Red Hall of Kyiv Central Railway Station.

“These shows were more than professional events for us — they also revealed the important role of Ukrainian fashion during the war. At the COAT, there was the contrast between the anxiety of the reality around us and guests arriving in elegant looks traditionally associated with an opening night at the opera. At J’AMEMME, we witnessed dedication and understanding of the brand’s audience, who waited for more than two and a half hours as the air-raid alert delayed the start of the show.

I was deeply moved by the guests of Ukrainian Fashion Week, who so warmly supported the designers’ collections, proceeding to the shelter whenever necessary and waiting for the schedule to continue,” says Iryna Danylevska, Founder of Ukrainian Fashion Week.

The main Ukrainian Fashion Week venue hosted 40 events, including shows by CHUPRINA, COVER, GURANDA, ii, LINNI CARO, KIR KHARTLEY and others.

Craft as Contemporary Culture

The key project of the season was “Behind the Craf”t, an exhibition at Mystetskyi Arsenal dedicated to traditional Ukrainian crafts and their contemporary reinterpretation. A year in the making, the exhibition brought together more than 70 looks by Ukrainian fashion brands and objects of contemporary design.

Curated by GUNIA Project co-founders Maria Gavryliuk and Natalia Kamenska, “Behind the Craft” invited people to consider craft not simply as heritage to be preserved, but as a living part of contemporary culture. By working with craftspeople and traditional techniques, Ukrainian designers are bringing artisanal knowledge into the present, giving craftsmanship renewed cultural, creative and economic value.

Established Ukrainian Brands

Ukrainian Fashion Week SS27 featured a particularly strong line-up of established Ukrainian brands, including FROLOV, GUNIA Project, NADYA DZYAK, PASKAL, POUSTOVIT, the COAT by Katya Silchenko, J’AMEMME, KHRYSTYNA RACHYTSKA, ANDREAS MOSKIN, SANTA, SIDLETSKIY, PRZHONSKA, TONiA and VIKTORANISIMOV.

Today, the role of these brands extends beyond creating collections and building their businesses. They are helping shape the image of contemporary Ukraine internationally, speaking to the world through fashion — a visual language that needs no translation and transcends borders.
