VIKTORANISIMOV fw22-23
“I’m going slightly mad” – the name of the cult song of the Queen band – accurately reflects the present and its instability. In the new off-season collection, Victor Anisimov reflects on the fine line between madness and common sense. The designer poetically calls our reality a psychiatric hospital, and all of us its patients. A capsule collection of 10 monochrome gender-neutral looks was created especially for them. Each of the looks has its own flaw that shows the reverse side of the designer‘s creative process: the deconstruction embodied in transformer things and the deliberate incompleteness of some items. Yes, voluminous dresses turn into overalls, double-sided jackets can be worn upside down, and avant-garde trench coats have a clasp in the side seam. The colour palette is represented by graphic combinations of canary yellow, coral, black, grey and khaki. Each colour symbolizes a “crazy genius”, for instance, deep yellow – Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh. The designer presents multi-layered looks in which each model is made of one type of fabric. Viscose and cotton, jersey and wool take on a new form and show the fascinating imperfections of the look of a psychiatric hospital patient. According to the designer, madness sometimes borders on true genius. The new collection awakens dialogue and becomes not only a reflection of the madness of modern fashion but also of a whole society.
