Vegan Fashion Week® and Ukrainian Fashion Week join forces to share a powerful message for the planet in Los Angeles

Vegan Fashion Week® and Ukrainian Fashion Week are excited to announce a partnership in Los Angeles on October 10-12, 2022. With shared core values of creativity and sustainability, this will be a unique opportunity to share an inspiring message about the state of our planet with a global audience.

Fashion week is not just a display of clothes on the catwalk, it is also a means of creative expression and understanding of the environmental, socio-economic and political situation in the world. This year’s event has a strong message that invites everyone to reflect on the importance of compassion as a foundation for world peace, to highlight the connections between people, biodiversity and the urgent need to stop our negative impact on the planet and its inhabitants. This important fashion collaboration aims to present the best examples of Ukrainian sustainable brands in a collective display, in the showroom, and there will also be discussions about ethics and the meaning of sustainability in fashion. The event will take place at the recently renovated California Market Center in downtown Los Angeles.

“For 25 years, we have worked hard to become the industry’s unifying force and its most influential player. In 1997, designers received a call from the Ukrainian Fashion Week to unite in the industry, and today UFW is developing in key areas – sustainability, digitalization, inclusion and diversity. Since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, we have all been living in a state of incredible stress that is felt by everyone in every corner of our country. However, during the war, Ukrainian designers found the strength to create new collections to tell the whole world about Ukrainian resilience and courage, as well as to show Ukrainian national identity through fashion,” – Iryna Danylevska, co-founder and CEO of Ukrainian Fashion Week.

Although Vegan Fashion Week® is not one of the main four, in recent years it has become a launching pad for vegan fashion and a hub for important messages. As one of the most influential international fashion weeks, VFW has become a beacon of hope for ethical and sustainable lifestyles, emerging and established designers, and creating change across the industry. He, in his desire to end the use of materials of animal origin in the fashion industry, has created comfortable conditions for collaborations between producers of plant-based textiles, brands and industry leaders.

“As we continue to focus on our movement’s responsibility to promote and strengthen the future of vegan fashion, we are incredibly excited and proud to welcome Ukrainian Fashion Week as this year’s guest and take the opportunity to present their unique vision to our international audience. I am looking forward to the realization of our partnership and to go part of the way together to fulfil our main missions”, – says Emmanuel Rienda, founder of Vegan Fashion Week®.

This historic event is intended to be an inclusive platform for learning, discovery and collaboration, showcasing a completely cruelty-free experience. It represents a world where ethics and trends intersect as a celebration of human evolution.

The lineup of Ukrainian designers includes CHERESHNIVSKA, DEVOHOME, DZHUS, GOROHOVA, NON.LBS, OCHIS, OVERSIZED, PALINGENESY, RCR KHOMENKO, REVICLO by MARKOVA, ROUSSIN, SHEEZEN and others.

Emmanuel Rienda plans to cultivate the global fashion scene through exciting collaborations and interactions, such as the exclusivity for the launch of the capsule collection Nous Étudions (LVMH Prize 2020 Shortlist designer) in collaboration with cactus-based biomaterial Desserto®. Ta continues to create Vegan World, the only professional exhibition focused on vegan fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands.

Ticket purchases and additional donations will go to the VFW Mentoring Fund, which provides ongoing support to young sustainable fashion designers to increase their exposure and opportunities in the US market. This season’s profits will go to support Ukrainian designers.
