SS27: J’amemme show

For their SS27 collection, J’amemme presented The Divine Feminine, exploring femininity as a multifaceted, ever-changing state — tender and strong, sensual and restrained, vulnerable and uncompromising, often all at once.

“The Divine Feminine is about a woman who no longer needs to conform to a particular image. She can change, contradict herself, be different — and still remain whole. It’s about the different facets of one personality,” says designer Julie Yarmoliuk.

The collection was built through experiments with material and form, focusing on how fabric falls, gathers and moves with a woman’s body. Sharply tailored suiting and column silhouettes sit alongside sheer dresses and corseted gowns. Lightweight chiffon and satin bring transparency and fluidity, appearing in cowl-draped necklines and floor-length layers. Wool introduces structure in fitted trousers and precise blazers. The brand’s iconic wave-like ruffle runs through several key items: layered tops, bralettes, and dresses, animating the silhouette with movement even when the body is still.

This attention to construction reflects the brand’s focus on craftsmanship: draping, pleating, and ruffle work are done by hand. The brand treats techniques traditionally associated with decoration as tools for shaping a contemporary silhouette. The palette combines rich and pastel shades — black, white, red, dusty pink, lilac, aquamarine, petrol blue, butter yellow and soft lime — moving from restrained and graphic to sensual, emotional and weightless.

The brand presented The Divine Feminine at Ukrainian Fashion Week SS27. The show became J’amemme’s largest presentation to date and took place in the Red Hall of Kyiv Central Railway Station — a space where architecture and the movement of people will become part of the artistic statement.

The show’s concept was developed by director Valeriia Fadyeyeva, who approached the collection through the essence of its founder and designer, Yuliia Yarmoliuk — through her distinctive way of speaking about womanhood through touch, texture, pleating, and the movement of fabric and body. At the heart of the directorial concept is a simple formula: light touches fabric, fabric touches the body, the body touches the air. It is through this sequence of touch that a woman emerges in all her manifestations — earthly and divine, delicate and strong, one who dreams, feels, and chooses herself.

The show’s dramaturgy is structured as a gradual process of self-discovery: from the first step on the ground to the first flight into the air. Light, the architecture of the space, music, and the movement of the models will work as a unified system, unfolding the collection’s central idea: a woman’s divinity is something that has always lived within her.
