UFW SS25: the COAT by Katya Silchenko show

On September 1, 2024, amidst the full-scale war in Kyiv, the COAT by Katya Silchenko opened Ukrainian Fashion Week with the fashion show of its FALL-WINTER 2024/2025 collection in the garden near the National Opera of Ukraine. This event marks the beginning of the celebration of the brand’s 10th anniversary, which takes place this fall.

The collection is the quintessence of the brand’s work over the past decade. Each model embodies the brand’s signature DNA, expressed through reimagined elements, forms, and styles: the iconic two-tone coat, corset lines, accentuated peplums, playful feathers borrowed from Katya’s ballroom dance background, and sensual netting and leather—all of which have enriched everyday wardrobes with femininity and playfulness.

In 2014, the COAT began with a capsule of 12 colorful coats. Today, the runway showcased outerwear as part of a series of pieces that experiment with volume, texture, and drapery, creating a visual narrative that evolves from classic to avant-garde. Fur coats, sheepskin jackets, numerous coats, capes, and bombers—all these are reimagined works of the brand.

“This collection is the result of many years of work. In addition to the designs that are carved from collection to collection, an important achievement of the brand is the search for fabrics and manufacturers from around the world. The diversity of textures has been an integral part of the COAT since its inception. We work with many factories, which is always a challenging task, but we went further by incorporating the full spectrum of complex textures into a single shade of cherry red. These textures were prepared in different corners of the world for us: wool, feathers, eco-leather, cashmere, netting, sequins, faux fur, patent leather, shoes, and all accessory groups. We employed a vast array of textures to make this collection truly complex, a summation of the first decade of the COAT,” says Katya Silchenko, creative director and designer of the COAT.It is precisely the play of fabrics, forms, and colors that create the multidimensionality of the collections. Against the backdrop of the main cherry red shade, balanced by classic beige and gray, the headliner of this story is a pink dress that, contrasting with the color, highlights its cut’s maturity and confidence. At the end of the show, instead of a period, the COAT places an exclamation point with a final look in a deep singular shade to enhance the impact of the collection’s dominant color.
