Sunflower Quilt For Ukraine – Patchwork of Victory
The first public presentation of the world’s largest quilt in support of wounded Ukrainian soldiers
On September 6, 2025, as part of Ukrainian Fashion Week in Kyiv, the official presentation of the project “Sunflower Quilt For Ukraine – Patchwork of Victory” will take place — an initiative that unites fashion, art, charity, and the power of human solidarity.
The central element of the event will be the display of the first 600 meters of the world’s largest quilt, being sewn by artisans from more than 25 countries to raise funds for facial reconstructive surgery for soldiers who have suffered blast injuries during the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Installation Formats
Venues:
- The Great Lavra Bell Tower (National Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Reserve)
- The Courtyard of Mystetskyi Arsenal
Within the event:
Sections of the quilt will be lifted into the sky by drones — a symbol of hope and faith in Victory
The quilt will be placed on the façade of the Bell Tower with the participation of wounded soldiers
A symbolic “city of hope” will be created between the Lavra and the Arsenal by laying quilt sections on the ground

Photo Exhibition “Unbreakable Patchwork”
From September 5 to 13, the first floor of the Great Lavra Bell Tower will host a photo exhibition featuring soldiers awaiting facial reconstructive surgery. The exhibition will present not only portraits but also stories of transformation — from trauma to recovery.
About the Project “Sunflower Quilt For Ukraine”
Launched in the first days of the full-scale invasion by Australian artist Jannette “Janno” McLaughlin, the project has united thousands of people worldwide who stitch “patches of support” in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. With the help of volunteers, foundations, and quilting masters, the initiative has become a powerful tool of international fundraising.
Goal: to assemble 1,100 meters of quilt by August 2026, register a record in the Ukrainian Book of Records, and submit an application to the Guinness World Records. Later, quilt sections will be part of traveling exhibitions at diplomatic events and eventually donated to military hospitals.
