SS26: Poustovit presentation

On August 7, within the walls of the Old Academic Building of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, designer Lilia Poustovit presented the performance “Connection” — an art project inspired by the work of artist Pavlo Makov.

The event unfolded at the intersection of fashion and art. For more than a decade, Poustovit’s collections have echoed Makov’s imagery: from the series “Utopia” and “Donrosa” (2011) to the new series “Torn Pages”, where color unexpectedly emerges as a symbol of renewal and life.

The performative part of the project featured 12 models dressed in the new Poustovit collection. Works by Pavlo Makov from Lilia Poustovit’s personal collection, the Utopia tablecloth and napkins, as well as scarves, dresses, and shirts from the Torn Pages series appeared as symbols of connections that shape values and memory. Gathered together, these elements form a lace of pages and images, where fashion becomes a continuation of art.

The title “Connection” reflects Lilia Poustovit’s personal dialogue with Pavlo Makov, which has lasted for more than a decade. The event explores the link between past and present, the personal and the collective, the fragile and the strong. The Old Academic Building, constructed in the first half of the 18th century in the style of Ukrainian Baroque, emphasizes this multilayeredness — as a place where generations, traditions, and cultural heritage intersect and remain our pillars today.

“Connection” is not a traditional fashion show, but rather a performative gesture: a dialogue between art and fashion, a meditation on memory and beauty, a visual conversation with oneself and the world about inner strength, renewal, and hope.
