RECONOMY x UFW FW25-26: Fashion Week Highlights

This season, Ukrainian Fashion Week took place under the inspiring motto “Hope for the Future.” Special attention was given to both the young generation of designers within the NewGen Lab framework and the sustainable path, as sustainability is an integral part of the fashion industry’s future.

One of the key events of the season was the launch of NewGen Lab – an innovative platform for experimentation and the development of new names in the fashion industry.

The partner of the innovative platform for young designers, NewGen Lab, and the presentation of the Ukrainian sustainable brand PLNGNS became RECONOMY, an inclusive and green economic development program of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), implemented by HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation.

The collaboration is taking place within the framework of the project “Circular Business Models and Resource Efficiency for Competitiveness and Growth of the Textile and Apparel Sector in the EaP Countries.” The project aims to introduce circular business models and transform the textile and apparel  industry into a resilient and sustainable sector.

The brand PLNGNS presented the IDENTITY collection, emphasising its commitment to upcycling, experimental design, and sustainability. Creative Director Mitya Gontarenko and Head Designer Ira Ambrosova stated: “We strive to create memorable designs, setting new standards in sustainable fashion.”

The PLNGNS presentation turned into a “gallery within a gallery”—a space where fashion, art, and ecological transformation merged into a unified concept. The installation traced the brand’s journey from idea to realization. After the presentation, the installation remained open to all Ukrainian Fashion Week guests, inviting them to immerse themselves deeper into the concept of circular fashion as the new industry standard.
