Clothing with Function

Clothing with Function

The Clothing with Function exhibition continues the initiative launched by Ukrainian Fashion Week in the FW25–26 season. Its purpose is to draw the attention of both the fashion industry and society to one of today’s most pressing realities — the growing number of Ukrainians living with injuries and amputations as a result of the war.

“The war has placed us in a reality where adaptive clothing is not a trend, but a necessity. We live in a country where inclusivity is not an exception, but a responsibility. This is our new norm,” says Iryna Danylevska, Founder and CEO of Ukrainian Fashion Week.

Clothing with Function is about confidence, dignity, and independence. It’s about design that takes into account specific physical needs — from limb and eye injuries to the use of prostheses and assistive devices. It represents a new fashion ethic, where function is seamlessly integrated into style.

MAKI

Designed for people who use wheelchairs, this look addresses the needs of those with spinal injuries: comfortable for extended sitting, easy to put on and take off even with limited mobility, and free from pressure points or overheating. It features elastic inserts, drawstrings, zippers, and magnetic fasteners. Functional elements are harmoniously built into a contemporary design.

SIDLETSKIY

This look combines modern style with practical solutions for people with prostheses. The top of the black viscose suit includes zippers in the sleeves for quick and easy prosthesis fitting or removal. The shorts feature zippers along the side seams and a buttoned waistband, allowing the wearer to secure them first and then close the zipper with ease — ensuring all-day comfort and freedom of movement.

JULIYA KROS

The JULIYA KROS brand has introduced the “VIM” functional line to improve daily life for people using prosthetic limbs or wheelchairs. The collection includes men’s 2-in-1 transformable trousers (trousers/shorts) for all seasons, designed for a lower-limb prosthesis (amputation at the knee). This technical solution addresses individual needs, supports independence, ensures prosthesis functionality, and maintains aesthetics as well as comfort.

ANDREAS MOSKIN

This tailored suit includes a discreet zipper at the bottom of the leg for quick and easy prosthesis access. Made to precise individual measurements, it eliminates chafing and ensures maximum comfort during movement.

UFEG x VOZIANOV

In the GUN & SUN collection, the team set out to remove the barriers and subtle discriminative traits often found in everyday clothing. Adaptive sizing and fasteners that can be operated with one hand — whether right or left — provide easy access to prostheses. Yet these are not “specialized” garments; they reflect the belief that everyday clothing should bring people together, not set them apart.
