Clothing with Function: A New Chapter for Ukrainian Fashion Industry
In the FW25–26 season, Ukrainian Fashion Week launched the “Clothing with Function” initiative – a program aimed at encouraging designers, the industry, and society to acknowledge one of today’s most urgent realities: the growing number of Ukrainians living with injuries and amputations as a result of war.
Today, the Ukrainian Fashion Week team is reaching out to designers to better understand the opportunities and needs of fashion brands in creating designer clothing with a function for veterans and people with disabilities.

“War has thrust us into a reality where adaptive clothing is not a trend, but a necessity. We live in a country where inclusivity is not an exception — it is a responsibility. This is our new normal,” — says Iryna Danylevska, Founder and CEO of Ukrainian Fashion Week.
Clothing with function is about confidence, dignity, and independence. It’s about design that takes into account physiological needs — limb injuries, visual impairments, the use of prosthetics or mobility aids. It’s a new fashion ethic where function is seamlessly woven into design.
