Galeries Lafayette X Ruslan Baginskiy

Galeries Lafayette X Ruslan Baginskiy

The main windows of the Parisian department store Galeries Lafayette are now dedicated to the Ukrainian brand Ruslan Baginskiy.

This summer, Ruslan Baginskiy is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a historic event in the heart of Paris. The Ukrainian designer created 12 window displays for Galeries Lafayette Haussmann, and also launched both a pop-up and a shop-in-shop for his brand.

The main building of Galeries Lafayette is an architectural landmark in the very center of the French capital. It welcomes 27 million visitors annually and leads in sales among European department stores. This month, the iconic façade is adorned with a specially designed 140 m² Ruslan Baginskiy banner in blue and yellow — a bold tribute to Ukraine.

The windows of Galeries Lafayette are a cultural space where new visual languages and narratives have emerged since the early 20th century. Over the years, brands like Prada, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Jacquemus have designed them. For the first time in Ukrainian fashion history, a brand has executed a takeover of this scale.

The project was also included in the official Paris Couture Fashion Week program, underscoring its significance for Ukrainian design on the global stage.

“For me and the team, this is more than a project — it’s a meaningful moment dedicated to Ukrainian culture: its strength, elegance, creativity, and ability to inspire the world. This is a story about our home, told with deep love for who we are. Thousands of people visiting Paris this summer will see these windows. We believe in the power of culture, and each display in the city center is our voice,” says Ruslan Baginskiy.

The visual story, titled Ruslan Baginskiy Tales, blends modern design, traditional techniques, and an artistic interpretation of Ukrainian identity. The 12 windows form an open-air exhibition, with each telling its own story. Highlights include:

  • A window dedicated to wickerwork from the village of Iza
  • Displays with mannequins inspired by the works of Kazimir Malevich
  • A pair of windows in blue and yellow

The Ruslan Baginskiy installation will be on view from July 8 to August 25.
