FW26–27: NADYA DZYAK Art Performance

Designer Nadya Dzyak presented the author’s art performance ROOTS OF LIGHT.
The event continued the creative transformation of fashion and art that the brand initiated with its FW26–27 collection. The performance served as an artistic reflection of the designer’s ideas through space, movement, light, and performative action.

The works of contemporary Ukrainian artist Kateryna Lysovenko inspired the collection.

“I was deeply impressed by her paintings — the combination of colors and meanings, and the way she conveys emotions through mythical imagery. She often depicts people as mythical beings — somewhat strange and mysterious, yet very alive and luminous.
In our culture and legends, such images have existed for centuries — the girl-poplar, forest spirits, and beings connected to nature. Those who came to our lands often called these images ‘strange’ or ‘different,’ as if justifying their desire to destroy them.

In reality, what may seem strange or incomprehensible often carries a light that continues to grow. I believe that light always prevails, and even if we appear different to someone, it gives no one the right to destroy us,” comments Nadya Dzyak.

The art performance presented the process of transformation — from artistic image to garment and then to an art object. During the performance, elements of the collection gradually changed their function and became part of a spatial installation. Through the plasticity of fabric, geometry, light, and sound, the designer explored the moment when fashion transitions into the realm of an artistic gesture.

“For me, this performance continues the conversation about fashion as an integral part of culture and art. I literally ‘paint’ dresses with fabrics, translating color combinations and shade depth. Our forms have always featured ample space, light, and geometry. This time, we allow these forms to transform their nature and move beyond the boundaries of clothing,” says Nadya Dzyak.

ROOTS OF LIGHT became the first public step in the brand’s new creative direction — exploring spatial objects, installations, and performative forms at the intersection of fashion and contemporary art.
