FW25-26: FROLOV show

“Tavriyski Igry. Tviy Format on M1. Terytoriya A. Soia Los’s column in Moloko magazine. Childhood memories. The 2000s, the ’90s. Ukrainian punk rock. Freedom in every form it took at the time. My classmates, emo and goth friends. Rock-divas like Yulia Lord, Irena Karpa, Kasha Saltsova. I was a witness to this era — it lives within me. And now it lives on in the FROLOV collection and show, Dirty as an Angel. It’s a kind of anthropological and aesthetic study I began in my teens,” says Ivan Frolov, founder and creative director of FROLOV.

Those iconic studded belts from that era now make an appearance in the new FROLOV collection, embellished with Swarovski® crystals. The brand also debuts unexpected feather accents, inspired by the duet “Foto/Brudna Yak Anhel” (”Photo/Dirty as an Angel”) by Yulia Lord and the band Skryabin. New elongated corset silhouettes evoke Gothic-period shapes. From Ingmar Bergman’s gothic film Cries and Whispers, the design borrows distinctive skirt lines. Meanwhile, FROLOV continues exploring Ukrainian elements: the decorative towels from the “Ivasyk” collection are reimagined in velvet, adorned with crosses, hearts, and lace — nods to the emo and goth aesthetic of the early 2000s.

This season’s show takes the form of an MTV Unplugged-style concert with a touch of Tviy Format flair. Designer Ivan Frolov’s dream comes true: performing alongside Yulia Lord, the iconic band Krykhitka, and his longtime friend Irena Karpa. For Frolov, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime moment — Ukrainian rock divas uniting onstage for the very first time. “When I was 14, this lineup was only a fantasy,” he says. “Now it’s happening at the launch of FROLOV’s new collection at TSUM, in Kyiv, on February 14. No other date could ever have worked.”

The show opens with Irena Karpa, appearing as a “Black Bride,” performing “Dyakuyu za seks” (“Thank You for Sex”). She takes a stage dive into the crowd with dancers, and the models follow. The biggest surprise comes next: the iconic red chair from the “Tanets Dush” (“Dance of Souls”) music video makes its entrance, with Yulia Lord seated in a stylized version of her original look — corset, a blue fur coat, and a black skirt layered over athletic pants. From behind a silicone curtain in FROLOV’s corner of the venue, Sasha Koltsova steps into the spotlight to perform “Anhela, yak ya” (“An Angel Like Me”). Finally, all three join forces to sing Skryabin’s “Foto/Brudna Yak Anhel” (”Photo/Dirty as an Angel”) — the namesake track for FROLOV’s new collection.

A notable highlight: three thousand pink roses from Ascania-Flora, featured throughout the show and later gifted to guests. Everything unfolds live — streamed on the brand’s Instagram and on MEGOGO LIVE.

A true daytime rock concert, TSUM’s third floor has been transformed into a high-energy music venue. Every track is performed live, while the performers’ and dancers’ looks blend Puma and FROLOV styling.

The project was produced by Volodymyr Zavadiuk, who says:

“One morning, my friend Ivan Frolov came to me and suggested I produce his show for Ukrainian Fashion Week. It was both a huge responsibility and a welcome challenge. When creating television content, I always want to push beyond my comfort zone — and this rock-punk aesthetic, these memories of the legendary 2000s, were exactly that. It’s been a joy working with Ivan, these legendary ’90s vocalists, and the incredible team I assembled for the show. We all lived and breathed this project; we’re all fans of FROLOV. Our success proves that in dark times, Ukrainian culture and the fashion industry don’t just survive — they evolve and thrive. I’m thrilled that, through Instagram and Megogo streams, audiences around the world can experience this show and discover that fortune truly favors the bold.”
