At rst sight my collection is about secluded Estonian sherman villages on a small island, where the sea rules the life of people and forces them to search for untraditional solutions to survive. Sometimes it could be just few logs washed by sea to the beach to be used for building a house. Also because of the village isolation and therefore a lack of modern commodities supply, people here are reusing materials, sometimes in the very unexpected way for making their clothes. Someone could see it as forced constraints. But for me it is the life philosophy that I want to promote to the contemporary society beyond my small island. Overproduction rules the world. I believe it is time to stop exhausting our natural resources and polluting the environment. We could use our creativity and employ innovative technologies to create something spectacular out of materials we already have. Fast-fashion is polluting not only the environment, it is polluting our lives and our minds as individuals. I hope that more and more people, particular young people will turn to slow fashion. And I want to be among those who designs and drives slow fashion for people to reunite with their individual self. Presenting my collection on the international catwalk is an amazing opportunity to raise my voice for slow fashion and to be heard beyond my small island, and even beyond the borders of my country. It is already an achievement that I’m proud of. But it also inspires me and gives me the confidence to take the next step.
