Sergei Sviatchenko is one of the most influential innovators of modern collage. In a series of LESS-collages Sviatchenko created his own, especially expressive, collage language, through which he overcomes the usual boundaries and establishes a connection between pop culture and politics, personal memory and collective history, scientific representations and imaginative fantasy realities and dreams. Collages in the LESS series usually consist of only two or three elements in a bright single-colored background, which amplifies the expressiveness of the composition.
CLOSE UP AND PRIVATE is an on-going project by artist Sergei Sviatchenko which looks to capture the spirit of modern style, as seen through the subtle shades of the individual. Through these details a complex discourse between clothing, fashion and image takes form, offering new perspectives on contemporary fashion and identity. The project became popular and attracted the attention of clothing brands and fashion magazines.
"Close up and private. Style and art. Radical photoimages as a way of social and cultural communication" lecture by Sergei Sviatchenko will be held on November 2, 13-00 – 14-30 in the framework of Photo Kyiv Fair 2018.
