This is the study of our own roots. Of the artists that have inspired us. Of the traditions that cultivated us. Of the cities that made us who we are. Of the decisions that shaped the way we see the world.
These are the shadows of the forgotten ancestors. A story where earthly love and heavenly love collide. A bright and strong new perspective on folklore as a source of inspiration. Here Ukraine is different. It’s a fragile delicate flower covered with massive military-ish clothes. It appears in feminine silhouettes and fluid materials, it’s in embroidery that covers structured dresses. And in the symbols that are either hidden in smallest stitches or exposed as amulets.
These are the echoes of youth. Of times when Madonna got eggs fried on her stomach. When the trousers were wide and the shoulders even wider.
This is about art. About Louise Borgeois who dedicated her life to studying eroticism. About contemporary artist Tatiana Brodatch whose works are a tribute to sensuality and the life-giving force that love carries in its physical manifestation. Tatiana’s sculptures became a part of collection – a man of steel and a man of gold are taking shapes of brooches, necklaces and pendants. They also become a part of kaleidoscopic print that makes a bow to patterns on folk blouses.
This is manifestation of continuity and legacy. Handcraft, tapestry, beading, weaving and embroidery. Fall-Winter collection unites variety of complicated artisanal techniques. As a nod to our love to contrasts, these are permeated with silk, leather and pixelated images of traditional elements of Ukrainian culture.
