Roundtable “Sustainable fashion - Definition and Challenges, Trends and Challenges, Roles and Responsibilities”
Friday, 31 August 2018
On September 5, at 16:00 in the Mystetskyi Arsenal, a Round Table “Sustainable fashion” will be held with the support of the international logistics company DHL, which, in partnership with the Ukrainian Fashion Week, develops and promotes the "sustainability" trend in Ukraine.
What is sustainable fashion? Why is eco-fashion not equal to sustainable fashion? What role of designers and consumers in moving from fast fashion to sustainable fashion?
The first thing that comes to mind when asking about the "sustainable fashion" is eco-fashion, which involves the use of natural and organic materials or materials made from recycled materials. But the concept of sustainable fashion is wider and more complex. Sustainable fashion today is a developing philosophy that aims to a radical changing of the entire fashion industry system. During the round table we will focus on the main trends of sustainable fashion, discuss the challenges of using sustainable fashion methods, present cases of Ukrainian designers who implement the principles of sustanability, and also discuss the role and responsibilities of the consumers in the movement from fast fashion to slow fashion.
Within the round table the capsule collection developed on the principles of "responsible fashion" by young designer Julia Katsalap will be presented.
Round table speakers:
Dariia Marusik, a representative in Ukraine and activist of the international initiative Fashion Revolution.
Tetyana Solovei, columnist of fashion and jewelry department of Vogue UA.
