IYDC-2019: DAY 3
Day 3 is the last, but the most important and emotionally intense of IYDC. It is the day of the final Gala Show, when the collections of the finalists are presented to the media and public and the Jury announces the winner of the 2nd International Young Designers Contest.
The morning began with a few logistical “hiccups” before the collections finally arrived at the venue of the final show – the exhibit center “Mystetskiy Arsenal”, the home of Ukrainian Fashion Week shows. The finalists headed there shortly after. There the preparation for the show started: on backstage with the preparation of collections and models and on the catwalk with 5 hours of rehearsal for the show itself. The director of the show, Victoria Zubenko is well-known for her creative and authentic concepts of fashion show staging and scenography, as well as for her demand for the perfectness in execution. More than 40 models were involved in the show. Recognizable amongst them, faces from different seasons of the popular TV show “Ukrainian Top Model”.
The professional team of Y.Vision make-up artists and hairstylists worked on the images of models, using the make-up products of world-known brand Mary Kay, which is the beauty-partner of Ukrainian Fashion Week for several consecutive seasons.
“Health&Food Kyiv” took care of proper nutrition, not only for the finalists, but all who worked backstage. The day without “Health&Food Kyiv” would have been much more challenging.
The rehearsal was finally over, the installation of Fashion Visual Art Residency mini-exhibit was completed, and the reception zone was ready to meet the first guests.
The media briefing was concise, but informative. Speakers were: representing the organizers - Ivan Frolov, the youngest member of Ukrainian Fashion Council and Olga Myelkova, representative of IED – Istituto Europeo di Design. Giovanni Ottonello presented the results of Fashion Visual Art Residence, as its Curator.
Volodymyr Nechiporuk, the General Producer of Ukrainian Fashion Week (the fashion organization, which initiated this Contest) welcomed all participants and wished each of them good luck not only on the stage of IYDC, but on the numerous professional catwalks in the fashion capitals across the world, where their future collections will be presented, if they will remain devoted to the career of fashion designer.
But most of all, the media was provided an opportunity to interview the finalists and Jury experts.
Shortly the main function of the day started. But that deserves its own separate news story.
