Gala Fashion Show - “Breaking the wall, leaving in harmony”
Friday, 12 July 2019
The Gala Fashion Show certainly was the most anticipated part of the Contest. Models are ready. Guests and Jury experts took their seats in the Gala show hall. Finalists are nervous and excited. Moment of silence. Lights, music, let the show begin!
The masters of the ceremony were Pryamiy channel host-anchor, Karolina Ashion, and political analyst and host of an international affairs talk show on Pryamiy channel, Peter Zalmayev.
The concept of the show “Breaking the walls, leaving in harmony” (by Victoria Zubenko) was revealed through staging and choreography. With each new collection appearing on the catwalk, the brick in a backdrop wall fell out as the symbol of breaking boarders, both geographical and social, as the symbol of young talent’s potential to unite people among beautiful ideas. The choreography and the music added to the symbolism: each collection presentation ended with group of models together moving in unison as the heart beats. The world is one! We are living in harmony!
The collections demonstrated by young designers are not pret-a-porte collections, that are common for traditional seasonal fashion weeks. Each collection is the conceptual idea that a designer is trying to communicate to the world. It is their chance for free self-expression, for being creative without limitation. You may or may not like them, but you can’t stay indifferent! 16 finalists. 16 individual talents. 16 statements on how to change the world for better. Each of finalists is already the winner. They are winners of the national contests and awards in their countries.
How is it possible to rate this talent? Is it easy to choose the best of the best? Ask the Jury experts of the 2nd International Young Designers Contest. It does not matter how difficult it was to choose (20 minutes of heated arguments behind closed doors), they had to choose! And the winner of 2nd International Young Designer Contest is Anastasia Padalka (Ukraine) with her collection ““The theory of the Absurd: Fragility, Fight, Kitsch”.
