Art Platform of Ukrainian Designers. Part 3
Ukrainian Fashion Week continues the review of our special project which opened the 31st issue of the main fashion event of Ukraine, and which called a vivid interest of mass media representatives, guests and participants of Ukrainian Fashion Week. We have already had opportunity to tell about installations by Viktor Anisimov, Svetlana Bevza and Liliya Litkovskaya (Part 1), as well as about installations by Nataliya Kamenskaya and Olesya Kononova, Volodymyr Podolyan and Andre Tan (Part 2).
Part 3 is dedicated to creative art-objects presented by Christina Bobkova, Ksenia Kireeva and Serge Smolin.
Christina Bobkova about her installation:
“Installation Bobkova is devoted to a new perception of the world, beauty and femininity. We offer to ruin stereotypes, to discover the world from its different sides and unusual angles. Bobkova brand propagates new, progressive perception, development of ideas and their courageous implementations. We try to show that all the changes, even if they are obscure at first sight, are important, as motion, changes and development mean life”.
“Inspiration of Christina Bobkova keeps in step with the global fashion calendar. She has hit a closed circle where commercial success sets creativity into motion and swings the pendulum of imagination. Fanciful geometry transforms into inventive silhouettes. Clothes by Bobkova have endless combinatorial variations – from conceptual to casual office looks with designer accents. Her design is reasonable and precise: straight lines and jersey deviations, square cut and delicate roundness of the drapery are in a perfect harmony, yet they still remain a chance to introduce possible social “amendments”. Vanilla tenderness and sentimental colors are not for Bobkova brand. The designer gives preference to gentle delicacy instead. The main axiom which Christina supports and promotes is that fashion can really be comfortable…” Valentyna Klymenko, Expert of Best Fashion Awards.
Ksenia Kireeva’s installation is the result of collaboration between the designer and Marie Claire (Ukraine) editor-in-chief Elena Druzhynina. The key element of the composition is a pair of eyeglasses, one of the essential parts of Marie Claire’s editor-in-chief style. The base of the installation, as well as Ksenia Kireeva’s logo, has a star shape and is covered with one of the designer’s favorite materials – leather. In eyewear lenses one could see the video of Ksenia Kireeva FW 2012-2013 collection through multimedia projection.

“There is nothing more complicated than to do simple things. Yet, Ksenia Kireeva easily manages to do it due to her inborn impeccable taste and sixth sense for fashion. Perhaps purity is the principal feature characterizing Ksenia Kireeva brand, which was born only one year before. Its fashion statements sound calmly, but confidently and distinctively at the same time. Due to strict lines, noble profound colours and non-trivial texture combinations clothes by Ksenia Kireeva produce an impression of a relaxed withheld chic. The designer is very attentive to details and fabrics. Ksenia gives preference to leather and feels herself confident working with it, just like with jersey or silk. Like for many other young intellectuals contradictions are so natural for this young brand. Ksenia Kireeva style reflects the duality of up-to-date fashion. The designer balances between “masculine” and “feminine”, between naivety and sophistication, between ambitions and romanticism”. Elena Druzhynina, Expert of Best Fashion Awards.
Serge Smolin (IDoL) about his installation:
“Museum presupposes an exhibition of works which will leave their trace in the memory of visitors. All the designers, me including, strained themselves. Later on I just eased the strain… My art object turned out to be ironical and meaningful, as museum means paintings and Art, whereas a true Idol of Art is Joconde ))) Voilà: I am IDoL, I am Art”.
“Brand IDoL has celebrated its 5th Anniversary this autumn. Bearing in mind a rather young age of Ukrainian fashion industry in general and a kaleidoscopic change of names and events typical for nowadays in particular 5 years is an impressive date. Yet, life still provides us with examples of timeless phenomena. Clothes by Serge Smolin have ALWAYS been intellectual and exquisite. These features were successfully implemented even in his first collection presented on Ukrainian Fashion Week catwalk in October of a far pre-crisis 2007. “A charismatic and courageous Hero of Our Time” finally got a worthy setting. Later a play with textures and daring experiments with accessories have strengthened the exquisiteness of basic neoclassic looks. In the anniversary collection by Serge Smolin which will be presented within the 31st Ukrainian Fashion Week “the heroes of our time” will be accompanied by “the heroines” – Serge Smolin will debut as a designer of women’s clothes. I wish all the success to Serge Smolin and his brand IDoL in this initiative”. Sergey Myasoyedov, Expert of Best Fashion Awards.
